One of the reasons that the Tarot was such a compelling metaphor for people's lives, is that it attempted to break down human existence into four basic suits.
Happily, the four qualities I value in my teaching coincide with the traditional meanings associated with the four card suits of the Tarot: wisdom, creativity, decisiveness and value.
Each suit also contained 14 cards that each described a specific element of the human experience.
Cups, Wands, Swords and Pentacles became Hearts, Clubs, Spades and Diamonds in modern playing cards.
